Visit Herefordshire

 The hospitable county

Rural Herefordshire boasts far more than ruined castles, iron age forts and the Mappa Mundi but it is precisely its history that has formed and shaped this hospitable county with its ubiquitous black &white villages, apple &pear orchards &fine market towns.
Artists are particularly attracted to this diverse area and they re-work ancient themes through a dazzling array of ancient &modern methods, patiently potting, crafting, turning, carving, painting &weaving. Little wonder that the county has some of the best craft fairs &art exhibitions in England.

The cathedral has a fine choral tradition and the celebrated Three Choirs Festival attracts singers and musicians of international renown. It is the oldest choral festival in the world, cherishing its traditional composers whilst welcoming contemporary artists and showcasing cutting-edge new works.

The apple &pear orchards, the hop yards &the more recently cultivated vineyards produce quality beverages with a subtlety &finesse partially attributable to the fertile soil which in turn supports the traditional Hereford cattle. Flowers, fruits &vegetables are grown throughout the county, and farmers markets, farm shops &market towns showcase Herefordshire produce with pride.

Hospitality in Herefordshire is a way of life. People have a desire to share their love of their locality &you will be made welcome, whether you join a guided walk, a workshop, a special interest group or one of the many activities on offer.
